The character of Gren came about because I wanted a strong female lead, not someone who needed the guys to take care of her. She's smart and good at solving problems. She's also very human, with real emotions and fears. She wants to do the right thing and follow the rules, even when she's not sure why the rules are there. Gren knows that she has a bright future ahead of her but she also knows that she'll need to work hard to get it. Friendship is important to her, especially her friendship with Lawson. She is also close to her family.
Gren struggles with the fact that she's good at Dream Wandering. She has been told many times that she's one of the brightest students to ever come through the Learning Center, but she's not egotistical about it. She knows in her head that she's at the top of her class but in her heart she doesn't believe that she's as good as everyone thinks. The thought of failure frightens her. She is terrified of what life will be like once she becomes an apprentice. At the same time she is excited about what the future might hold.
